NCEPOD Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) study
Clinicians, including primary care clinicians, involved in providing care to children and young people with JIA
NCEPOD are reviewing the quality of care in children and young adults (0-24 years) with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). As part of this we are collecting clinicians’ views on the services available for them to provide to children and young adults with JIA via a short (max 5 minutes) survey.

My Knee Plan: A project to develop a care plan with a named Healthcare Professional
Any NHS healthcare professional involved in the care of people waiting for and having knee replacement surgery.
We will ask you to complete two questionnaires, one now and another in the Autumn 2024), about what care you think is important for people waiting for and having knee replacement surgery.

The STARFISH Trial: A randomised controlled trial of STeroid Administration Routes For Idiopathic Sudden sensorineural Hearing loss
Adults in the UK aged 18 years or over with a diagnosis of new-onset Idiopathic Sudden sensorineural Hearing loss (ISSNHL), who meet eligibility criteria.
We aim to find out which route (oral, intratympanic, or combined) of steroid treatment works best in improving hearing for patients with ISSNHL. Read more: www.entintegrate.co.uk/starfish

Refer adults with suspected ISSNHL to secondary care as per NICE guidelines and highlight their potential eligibility for participation in the trial. (To confirm if your local ENT department is involved in the trial/ for more information, email STARFISH@trials.bham.ac.uk).

Antibiotics in Primary Care PPS (APC-PPS)
All healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat acute infections in children and adults working in GP practices in England.
An audit of two four-hour sessions collecting anonymous data on children and adults who consult with acute infection symptoms during these sessions. We would also like you to complete a very short survey about your practice (anonymous data only) and experience of using the App to collect the data. The project should take less than an hour to complete in total.

If you would like to participate, please email: polly.duncan@bristol.ac.uk. Please check that your practice is happy for you to take part in the audit. You will be provided with a CPD certificate to acknowledge your participation.

Register an interest by 31st April 2024. The audit must be complete by 31st May 2024.

Adults >=50 years, with first/ second episode of herpes zoster, <=6 days since rash onset, not already taking (and no contraindication to taking) amitriptyline 10-30mg
A trial of medication and completion of questionnaires over 12 months, to assess how effectively amitriptyline treats post-herpetic neuralgia

Children with eczema between 3 months and 2 years of age
Contact with a researcher, a 'good eczema care' leaflet or a leaflet plus dietary advice, based on skin prick tests to milk, egg, wheat, and soya, with questionnaires and follow-up to review the response

Prescribing memantine in general practice in England: A survey and interview study
GPs working in general practices in England
A 10-minute online survey of GPs in England to investigate care and prescribing for people with moderate to severe Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) in general practice. At the end of the survey, you will be invited to provide your contact details if you are interested in taking part in an online/telephone qualitative interview (approx. 30 minutes), which will explore barriers and facilitators to following the available guidance for prescribing for this patient group.
